Animal Shelter Appreciation Week

Rhode Island Pet Network is celebrating National Animal Shelter Appreciation Week! We are so grateful for the municipal shelter and animal rescue staff and volunteers across Rhode Island. Serving on the front lines in our communities, they are the ones who nurse sick pets, train behaviorally challenged animals, and risk their own safety to give these little ones their best chance. All of us with adopted pets owe our furry families to their dedication, hard work, and big hearts.

Animal rescue isn’t just physically demanding. The stress levels and emotional toll on shelter workers cannot be overstated. We can help shelter staff - and local animals - by encouraging spaying and neutering to reduce overpopulation. Pet guardians can also make their jobs easier by keeping dogs on leash and cats inside to reduce the amount of missing pets. Finally, consider donating to your local shelters and rescue groups. Having enough resources to properly care for pets can make those challenging days that much easier for those in animal rescue.

Please join us in showing our appreciation to all who keep our shelters running and our rescue pets thriving across Rhode Island!
