June is Adopt a Shelter Cat Month! While we champion adoption year-round, this is the purr-fect time to consider adding a feline companion to your home. Did you know that Rhode Island accepted approximately 7,000 cats and dogs into the shelter system last year? With so many in need of homes in our small state, it takes just a quick drive to your local shelter, rescue, or foster home to find a furry friend.
If you can’t adopt right now, no problem - there are many ways to help adoptable cats this month! If you have a spare room and a little love to give, fostering an adult cat, pregnant cat, or nursing mom and kittens would be life-saving. You can also volunteer with shelter cats, fundraise for them, donate, or simply share adoptable cats to social media so your followers can discover their next family member.
Throughout June, we’ll be featuring on our Facebook and Instagram pages just a few Rhode Island shelter cats in need of homes. We hope you’ll consider adopting or at least sharing Feivel, Pepper, Popsicle, Petunia, and more! You can also find an adoptable cat near you on Petfinder.com.
